A Week of Winter Camp in Photos

In the midst of the season’s first significant winter storm, St. Michael’s College School (SMCS) Grade 8 students and their leaders experienced the annual Grade 8 Winter Camp at Camp Wanakita with outdoor and experiential education company, ALIVE Outdoors.

This year, our Grade 8s and their leaders battled the rain and snow as they participated in hikes, snowshoeing, climbing elements, an ‘Iron Chef’ competition, as well as large group games such as ‘survivor’ and ‘fire and ice,’ during which teams attempt to put out each other’s fires using snowballs.

SMCS Chaplain, Fr. William May, CSB, joined students and staff mid-week to celebrate an outdoor candlelit mass.

The group also experienced night hikes, a trivia competition, and a ‘minute to win it’ competition.

The week ended with a traditional gratitude circle where cabins shared what they had learned over the week and what they were grateful for.
