Basilians Announce New Leadership
With over 200 years of leadership in Catholic education, the Congregation of St. Basil (Basilian Fathers) met on July 13 to elect new leadership as part of their 2026 General Chapter.
Established in France in 1822, the Basilians founded St. Michael’s College School (SMCS) in 1852 and remains under their direction. Fr. Andrew Leung, CSB, president, and Fr. William May, CSB, vice president of mission and spirituality, serve on the school’s leadership team as Basilian representatives.

Congratulations to the newly elected Basilian Fathers General Council Leadership team.

- Vicar General: Fr. Maurice Restivo, CSB (Director of Novices in Bogotá, Colombia)
- Second Councillor: Fr. Pedro Mora, CSB (Pastor of Our Lady of Egypt Parish, Bogotá, Colombia)
- Third Councillor: Fr. Terence Kersch, CSB (Director of Studies for the Basilian Fathers)
- Fourth Councillor: Fr. Paul English, CSB (St. Anne’s Parish, Houston, Texas)
The new leadership team assumed their new roles immediately following the general chapter.

“After many years of dedication to Basilian education at various Basilian schools, I am humbled that my confrères would ask me to take on the position of superior general,” says Very Reverend, John Huber, CSB. “I will do my best to make sure that Basilian schools, especially our flagship School in North America, St. Michael’s College School, continue to offer a quality Basilian Catholic education that not only prepares young men for future employment, but more importantly prepares them for life as solid Christians, good citizens, good husbands, fathers, and hopefully a few may become priests. I will continue my dedication as a board member of St. Michael’s. I’m counting on the prayers of the good people at St. Michael’s, and I promise that I am praying for St. Michael’s community every day.”
