Club Bluenote Hits All the Right Notes
On Friday, March 1, Club Bluenote 2024 transformed the St. Michael’s College School (SMCS) cafeteria into a vibrant celebration of music!
The evening featured musical performances by our SMCS students, faculty, and friends. The atmosphere was enhanced with an elevated stage, theatrical lighting, a professional sound system, and intimate seating, complete with candles at every table, all contributing to an electric evening.
Club Bluenote showcased performances from the SMCS Intermediate and Senior Jazz Ensembles, the 85 Factor faculty band, and the cast of ‘Newsies.’ It was truly a not-to-be-missed event.

“I immensely enjoyed watching Club Bluenote and seeing all the talented students and teachers who performed. Not only is Club Bluenote another of St. Michael College School’s annually exciting events, but it also showcases and connects the community beautifully. I believe it is a must-see.”
– Benjamin Stevenson, Grade 12
“Club Bluenote was a great experience, and it showcased a lot of great SMCS talent. I truly enjoyed every performance because everyone got a chance to express themselves, and you could hear it in the music. Club Bluenote wasn’t only an impressive showcase but a fun experience for all those who attended. Whether your favourite song is Hotel California or you enjoyed the jazz classics such as Blue Moon, there was a song for everyone, and it kept me interested throughout the night. Overall, Club Bluenote was a celebration of talent for all to enjoy, and it should not be missed.”
– Austin Theal, Grade 10
“Club Bluenote is a great way to showcase talent within our yellow brick walls. It’s a magical experience, whether you’re an audience member or a performer on stage. You get to see the boys playing and singing their hearts out. Truly inspiring stuff!”
– Aiden Plock, Grade 12
“This year’s Club Bluenote was perhaps the busiest it has been for me. Playing with the Senior Jazz Band and Faculty Band and completing my music ISP on guitar was truly amazing and will remain something I remember for life. The stage was a magical place, and I really grew a lot through this experience.”
– Eric Xiao, Grade 12
