Position Available: 
This position provides accounting support to the Accounting Team in the areas of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, financial analysis, and general office operations. This position works on-site at the school.
Reports to: Accounting Manager
Supervises: N/A
Hours of Employment: 35-hour work week; With regular schedule of weekdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Occasional after-hours work may be required to support year-end or other urgent deadlines.
Rate of Pay: Annual Salary range $60,000 to $70,000; salary is commensurate with experience. Remuneration includes a comprehensive benefits package and access to participate in the organization’s defined contribution pension programme.
Official Start Date: ASAP
Responsibilities include: 
Accounts Payable: 
<ul>
<li>Processing full cycle accounts payable, including three-way matching of invoices and purchase orders, ensuring all payments processed are duly authorized</li>
<li>Tracking expenses and processing expense reports</li>
<li>Monitoring accounts to ensure payments are up to date and research any discrepancies by checking bills, invoices, sales receipts, and bank deposit records.</li>
<li>Investigates, follows up, reports, and participates in developing solutions for discrepancies or other accounting and control matters.</li>
<li>Ensures allocation to accounts is accurate.</li>
<li>Resolving vendor inquiries</li>
</ul>
Accounts Receivable:
<ul>
<li>Customer invoicing</li>
<li>Resolving collection issues by contacting customers via telephone or email</li>
<li>Entering data for new students accepted to the school into the accounting system, following up with families for missing paperwork, if needed</li>
<li>Maintaining customer accounts and posting cash receipts in a timely manner to ensure accuracy and detail. </li>
<li>Review A/R aging listings</li>
<li>Customer account reconciliations</li>
<li>Preparing, reviewing, and sending customer statements</li>
</ul>
Financial Analysis:
<ul>
<li>Expense Report reconciliations</li>
<li>Variance analysis budget to actual for individual departments</li>
<li>Assisting with month and year-end closing; including year-end accruals as required</li>
</ul>
General Office Operations: 
<ul>
<li>Ensure financial records are filed and stored in an organized manner to facilitate prompt retrieval of records as required.</li>
<li>Preparing workpapers and providing supporting documentation for audits as required.</li>
<li>Participating and supporting process improvements when required</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned.</li>
</ul>
What you bring to this role: 
<ul>
<li>A commitment to the vocation of Catholic education as it is embodied in the tradition of the Basilian Fathers and the mission and vision of St. Michael’s College School</li>
<li>Possess a post-secondary certificate or diploma in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting with an understanding of accounting procedures (such as bookkeeping)</li>
<li>Minimum of two years work experience in general accounting</li>
<li>Ability to follow-up on outstanding receivables, as required</li>
<li>Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop, MS Excel, and MS Word</li>
<li>Excellent customer service skills, including persuasiveness, responsiveness, confidence, and tact.</li>
<li>Commitment to collegial, cooperative, and professional working relationships with members of the Accounting Team and the rest of the school community</li>
<li>The ability to work in a confidential setting and demonstrate sound judgment in dealing with sensitive and confidential information and situations.</li>
<li>The ability to anticipate priorities and respond as required.</li>
<li>Strong organizational skills that include attention to detail</li>
<li>Strong data input skills that include speed and accuracy</li>
<li>Excellent organization to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and on time.</li>
<li>Ethical consideration and a consistent display of integrity in all duties</li>
<li>Maintain a professional image by acting with due diligence and business acumen.</li>
