Mr. Jim Gregory ’55†

Order of St. Michael  

Jim Gregory graduated from St. Michael’s College School in 1955. Jim served as assistant manager and assistant coach alongside Fr. David Bauer, C.S.B. for the 1960-61 Memorial Cup Champion St. Michael’s Majors.

Following his time in junior hockey, Jim became a scout with the Toronto Maple Leafs. In 1969, he was promoted to General Manager of the Leafs and served in this capacity for the next ten years.

He is recognized as one of the first National Hockey League managers to identify Europe as a talent pool for the league, and in 1979 became the NHL’s Director of Central Scouting.

In 1986, Jim was named NHL vice president and executive director of hockey operations, and later as senior vice president of hockey operations. In 2005, Jim was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
