Homecoming 2025: Your Words and Photos
Blessed with beautiful fall weather, St. Michael’s College School’s (SMCS) Homecoming once again showcased the power of community. School spirit, camaraderie, and friendship permeated the campus on September 27, 2025, with over 1,000 visitors.
The day was filled with competitive games of ball hockey, volleyball, soccer, basketball, and football. Those in attendance were treated to an entertaining performance courtesy of the school’s Homecoming Concert Band. Homecoming also welcomed back the annual SMCS Alumni Association Homecoming Hockey Tournament after its successful debut last year.

Homecoming festivities got underway with an opening faceoff in the arena, featuring an eight-team tournament and over 80 alumni from the last three decades. Congratulations to Team Kelly for capturing the Legends Division and Team Keon for winning the afternoon’s Rising Stars Division.
“I’m thrilled with the energy and enthusiasm surrounding the Alumni Hockey Tournament,” says Chris Paolini ’09, who shares the tournament organizing duties alongside former classmate Gianluca Mazzanti ’09. “Seeing the development over the past two years has been incredible and I’m excited by the potential to keep building on this momentum, making the tournament even stronger, more connected, and more meaningful for the SMCS community.”
The day also featured several SMCS school teams in action, many of which were scheduled against the always competitive St. Andrew’s College (SAC) from Aurora. The much-anticipated afternoon senior football game welcomed back a historic and long-time Toronto Catholic rival, Michael Power.
Congratulations to all our teams and competitors on a great showing at Homecoming and for many strong starts to their respective seasons.

The school’s youngest crop of students also left their mark on Homecoming by participating in the annual Grade 7 Ball Hockey Tournament. Team Miller earned bragging rights as they defeated Team Corrente in the final.
“Mr. Miller’s class had the opportunity to showcase their hard-earned championship hardware with a ceremonial lap of the football field during the Junior Kerry Blues’ game,” says Matthew Pagano ’92, Core Intermediate Department Head. “From the opening faceoff to the final celebration, the Grade 7 Homecoming Ball Hockey Championship was a showcase of school spirit, camaraderie, and competition at its finest.”

“I thought Homecoming was well attended and well organized. Obviously, the perfect weather had a lot to do with the success of the event. I really enjoyed the Sr. Kerry Blues game and connecting with some of the staff and past alumni. Well done!”

"It never ceases to amaze me how the years can melt away when it comes to celebrating Homecoming at St. Mike’s. Classmates and other alumni I haven't seen in years, decades in some cases, feels like mere months… And everyone is always happy to see each other. That’s what this community is about."
– Michael Marcon ’94
“It was really fun to take pictures with all the kids and adults. Just dance without worrying about anything.”
– Angelo Gizzo, Grade 8 (Mascot volunteer)
“I had a great experience at Homecoming 2025. I was volunteering as set-up and assistance, and I was a mascot for the junior football game. In my opinion, even though I didn't play, setting up with my friends and meeting new friends on the way was super fun. I also had a great experience as the mascot because I was the hype man of SMCS. Even when I wasn't doing much, I was still watching the boys play wonders on the field and the court.”
– Joseph Cukaj, Grade 9 (Mascot volunteer)
“Homecoming was a special day that reminded us of the brotherhood we share at our school. It brought everyone together as a whole to celebrate our tradition and spirit. Personally, it showed me how strong our community is and why our school’s traditions mean so much. Definitely a day to remember.”
– Gavin Kelly, Grade 12
“To me, being in the stands for the games and singing the chants of our school truly showed the amount of pride and passion everyone has. You could feel the brotherhood and the energy in the air, and when the final buzzer sounded, everyone was electric. To me, that’s what homecoming is about: coming together with the whole school, showing our spirit and pride.”
– Leos Kapasouris, Grade 12
