Community Events
General events hosted by SMCS for students, staff, parents, and alumni.
Advent in the Courtyard
What started as a Student Government initiative in 2001 has grown to a community-wide event welcoming students, staff, parents, alumni, and friends to celebrate the beginning of Advent. The event includes a prayer service, readings, musical performances, seasonal refreshments, carolling, and the annual tree lighting and blessing.
Annual Golf Tournament
The Annual Golf Tournament plays a significant role in raising funds for the SMCS Financial Assistance Programme, which enables qualified students to receive a St. Michael’s College School education. Participants enjoy a day of golf, lunch and snacks provided by our sponsors, and prizes awarded for winning teams.
The Big Blue Benefit & Lottery
The Big Blue Benefit & Lottery celebrates community in an evening featuring live entertainment by students, alumni, and guests, a variety of restaurant stations, and culminating with the Big M Lottery draw. Proceeds from the event support the SMCS Financial Assistance Programme.
Fall Drama and Spring Musical
Annually, the SMCS Dramatic Arts Department produces a play in the fall and a Broadway-style musical in the spring, featuring SMCS actors, musicians, and backstage crew.
Homecoming
Over 1,000 students, parents, alumni, and friends come together each fall to celebrate the spirit of the St. Michael’s community. Spectators can enjoy watching a variety of sports and activities such as football, soccer, volleyball, family skating, hockey, musical performances, Grade 7 and 8 competitions, and a BBQ.
Music Concerts
Each winter and spring, the Music Department at SMCS hosts concerts to showcase the talent and hard work of the various school bands for the enjoyment of family and friends in the community.

Grade 11 Career Day
Annually, Grade 11 SMCS students participate in Career Day where they’ll hear from and interact with professionals from the SMCS community working in a wide array of industries.
Mass
All-school Masses are celebrated with our staff and students many times throughout the year. The formal celebrations include: Feast of St. Michael, Advent, Ash Wednesday, and Easter.
Mass is typically held in-person and livestreamed for the rest of our community to celebrate with us.
Open House for Prospective Families
St. Michael’s College School hosts various Open Houses for prospective students and parents interested in learning more about our all-boys university preparatory, Liberal Arts education, including academic and co-curricular programming, facilities, and more.
University Information Night
Each year, the SMCS Student Affairs Department presents the University Information Night for current students in Grades 11 and 12 to provide families with the necessary information and resources to make informed decisions about selecting and applying to university.
Welcome Days for Prospective Students
All new incoming students are invited to attend one of our annual Welcome Days held in June. Current faculty, Student Leaders, and Student Ambassadors will introduce incoming students to SMCS student life and all of the diverse opportunities available to them in the upcoming year.

Father & Son BBQ
St. Michael’s College School welcomes current SMCS students and their fathers or a significant male in their life to enjoy friendly games of bocce, football, basketball, chess, table tennis, foosball, ball hockey, a BBQ, and more.
Mother & Son Mass and Brunch
The St. Michael’s College School Mother & Son Mass and Brunch is a formal event held twice a year: one for Grades 7-11 students and one for graduating Grade 12 students and their mothers or a significant female in their life.
ParenTalks
The SMCS Student Affairs Department and Community Engagement & Learning programme present ParenTalks, a series of conversations for parents and guardians of current students.
The events currently run throughout the year in a webinar format.

Alumni Events
Events for alumni of St. Michael’s College School.
Alumni Information Series
The Alumni Association launched the virtual Alumni Information Series in May 2020. Alumni can register to attend these informative and educational webinars and virtual workshops on interesting and relevant topics and connect with former students online.
Alumni Networking Event
These bi-annual events help connect alumni and provide networking opportunities for recent SMCS graduates. These events focus on general networking, school applications, and career advice. Alumni also have the opportunity to listen to keynote presentations and participate in industry-led discussions with mentors working in various fields.
Archangel's Den Alumni Entrepreneur Contest
SMCS alumni entrepreneurs submit their business plans to the Archangel's Den Alumni Entrepreneur Contest and compete for a chance to win the top prize of $10,000 to jumpstart their business or startup.
This is an online event which has allowed alumni all over the world to participate.

Turkey Roll & Reunion
The Alumni Association hosts the Turkey Roll & Reunion on the last Friday in November each year. Alumni of all ages are welcomed back to SMCS where they can reconnect with our Basilian Fathers, faculty and staff, and fellow alumni.
Beginning with Mass, this featured alumni event offers food and games and attracts alumni of all generations. Each year the classes celebrating their 50th, 30th, 25th, and 10th anniversaries are honoured.
