About St. Michael’s College School
We are excited to share our story with you!
St. Michael’s College School (SMCS) is Canada’s only Catholic, Basilian, independent school, educating boys from Grades 7 to 12 in a university-preparatory program.
We educate young men in mind, body and spirit to become the leaders and change-makers of tomorrow.
And we have been doing just that for more than a century and a half — since 1852!
Our curriculum is designed to be diverse, dynamic and enriched, combined with an exceptional range of athletic, co-curricular and experiential learning opportunities that make a lifelong impact. We equip our students to think critically, act selflessly and serve with humility.
As a Catholic, Liberal Arts school, we prepare each of our students to discover his potential, flourish in university or college and thrive well beyond.
Dedicated teachers, a nurturing environment, state-of-the-art technology and ample resources equips us to help each student grow and prepare for his future with confidence.
Located in close proximity to downtown Toronto, our sprawling campus sits on 11 acres and features more than 300,000 square feet of learning space.
With a tradition of excellence that spans over a century and a half, a proven track record of success and an engaged network, our work is to ensure the success of every student.

Mission
In the tradition of the Basilian Fathers, we educate young men in Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge for a life of leadership and service in faithfulness to Jesus Christ.
Vision
We graduate young men who will change the world through lives of faith, character, and service.
Motto
The school motto is Doce me Bonitatem et Disciplinam et Scientiam (Psalm 118), Latin for ‘Teach me Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge’.
It was originally brought to the Congregation of St. Basil in the late 19th century by one of the school’s founders. The motto reflects our mission to educate the whole person.
It recognizes that being a good and disciplined individual, in charge of your own actions, is as important as the knowledge acquired through formal education.
We strive to prepare our students for university and to be future Catholic leaders within their community.

Fr. Henry Carr, CSB Farm
Located in Beeton, Ontario, Fr. Henry Carr Farm is an extension of our campus, providing students and staff with a place for outdoor education and retreat.
Fr. Ed Ronan, CSB, used Judge Couture’s property to offer St. Michael’s College School and Henry Carr Secondary School students an outdoor educational environment and to teach them the skills needed to build a house.
In 1979, the Basilian Fathers purchased Fr. Henry Carr Farm to allow Fr. Ronan’s work to continue.
The 97-acre property features farmland and a retreat house, serving as a tranquil setting for school retreats and professional development.
It is also used as a retreat location for local Catholic schools in South Simcoe County.
The Basilian Fathers transferred ownership of the farm to SMCS in 2015.
