Annual Parents’ Association Gala: Raising Funds and Making Memories
Guests were transported back 100 years on November 9, 2024, when the St. Michael’s College School Parents’ Association (SMCSPA) hosted its Double Blue Gala fundraiser at the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club to the theme of the Roaring 20s.
As attendees arrived at the sold-out event, with many decked out in 1920s costumes, they were greeted with a special performance by SMCS music teacher Christopher Plock and his trio.
“I personally was humbled, as I am every year, that a group of parents — led this year by the unflappable Patricia Carr and Lindsay Cox, our fundraiser co-chairs — are generous and motivated enough to get together and make something so truly magical happen,” says Krysta Davies Foss, SMCSPA president. “Some volunteers were in their element, others were participating for the first time, but everyone came together and created a gift of an evening for our community, so thank you!”
The party room in the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club was completely transformed to fit the theme thanks to the design vision and long hours of Adriana Pietropaolo and a team of SMCS moms.
The evening gala featured delicious hors d’oeuvres, a signature cocktail, dancing with live DJ Bellosound, as well as a jam-packed and highly successful online auction, the PA’s largest fundraising initiative of the year.
“It couldn’t have happened without our incredibly generous donors — many who donated to gift baskets, while others tapped their companies, their vendors, their friends, and we were able to put together a great auction that allowed us to surpass our goal of $50,000 raised,” says Davies Foss. “We were all reminded that with the money we raised at this event, we are able to support as many teams and clubs as possible to enrich our boys’ experience at the school.”
Thanks to the generosity of everyone in the SMCS community who attended, donated, and volunteered, the gala proved to be an enormous success.
“Thank you to everyone for your part in making the night the bee’s knees,” says Davies Foss.
