SMCS Baseball Standout Commits to Missouri State University

Another student-athlete from St. Michael’s College School (SMCS) has distinguished themselves by earning a Division I scholarship for fall 2026. Christian Iriotakis, Grade 12, has accepted an offer from Missouri State University (MSU), where he will continue both his academic and baseball career. “Once I walked onto campus, I realized that MSU was the place for me. I felt a sense of belonging before I even met the players and the whole coaching staff,” says Iriotakis, who will also be pursuing a finance degree. “Academically, their finance programme was above standard and the community at MSU was the perfect size and fit for me—I knew I would thrive.” For Iriotakis, his MSU decision came down to more than just baseball—it was about finding a programme that felt right both on and off the field. “There were many things that drew me to the MSU programme,” he adds. “First off, the coaches were extremely welcoming and showed that they really cared for their players. The baseball team is like its own family, and that’s what I want when I go down to school. Secondly, I liked that they have an excellent track record of players who have gone on to play professional baseball. I genuinely believe that the MSU coaches can help me reach my goals. Lastly, the facilities are great, and they share Hammons Field with the Double-A Springfield Cardinals, an affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.” His baseball journey began at age six and grew into playing competitively with the North York Blues, then the Scarborough Stingers for his U13 and U14 years, and finally, spending the last three seasons with the Toronto Mets. At SMCS, Iriotakis has competed for the SMCS Varsity Blues each year of high school, following in the footsteps of his brother Charlie ’21. “My SMCS baseball experience has been amazing,”
