Spring & Summer Camps

St. Michael’s College School (SMCS) Spring and Summer Camps offer youth exceptional academic, athletic, and art programmes. Sessions are led by certified teachers who are experts in their field of instruction, ensuring that your child is supported and challenged based on their skill-level and experience.

SMCS Camps

Whether your child wants to explore something new or is looking to improve an existing skill set, SMCS Summer Camps are the perfect opportunity for boys and girls to have fun, create memorable experiences, and receive the high quality of instruction that they deserve.

A variety of in-person and online programmes are offered for the spring and summer of 2024.

Each session will:

Be led by a certified teacher who is an expert in their given field
Provide individualized instruction and assessment of session specific skills
Encourage positive and fun social interactions between your child and their peers

Summer Programme Offerings

Academics

SMCS Summer Camps | General Learning Skills

General Learning Skills (In-person)

SMCS students entering Grades 7 or 8 | $250
August 19-23 | 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The General Learning Skills (GLS) Camp provides St. Michael’s students entering Grade 7 and 8 with the opportunity to grow and develop their learning skills and work habits in an interactive supportive environment. Working individually and in groups, students will develop critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational and social skills aimed at supporting their success both inside and outside the classroom. The programme will focus explicitly on math and literacy skills.

This is a full-day programme (8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.), run in-person at St. Michael's College School.

Athletics

SMCS Basketball Summer Camps | High performance camp

Elite Basketball Training Camp

Grades 9 & 10 (Fall 2024) | Co-Ed | $300/week
August 12-16 | August 19-23 | Half-day (Afternoons)

This training camp is intended to prepare high-level players for their upcoming seasons. Players should have multiple years of rep-level experience.

Participants should be entering Grades 9 or 10 in September 2024
Basketball, fitness, and strength training will occur from 1–4 p.m. each day
Focus is on advanced skill-development, breakdown of offensive/defensive concepts, and enhancing basketball IQ
A typical day will involve 60% skill development and training with 40% competitive play

*Lunch is not provided

Football

Grades 7+ | Boys | $50/week
July 2 to August 8 | 9:30 to 11 a.m.

The programme will run for approximately 1.5 hours on Tuesday and Thursday of each week beginning July 2 until August 8 (12 sessions total).

Professional players and coaches will deliver individual skill development by position:

Quarterbacks
Wide Receivers & Tight Ends
Defensive Backs
Running Backs & Linebackers
Offensive Line & Defensive

No prior experience of the sport is necessary. No football specific equipment is necessary. Activities will be non-contact.

Timing will not conflict with Strength & Conditioning Programme for athletes wishing to register for both programmes.

Lacrosse Strength and Skill Development

Grades 5+ | Co-ed | $300
July 3 to August 9* | Mondays and Wednesdays

Programme will run for approximately 1.5 hours on Monday and Wednesday of each week, beginning July 3 until August 9 (12 sessions total).

*July 1 and August 5 sessions will occur July 5 and August 9 to accommodate statutory holidays.

Professional players and coaches will deliver individual skill development by position:

Goalie
Defense/Long-Poles
Midfield
Attack

Athletes should have at least one season of experience playing lacrosse.

Arts

Yamaha Sounds of Summer Drumline Camp (In-person)

Grades 4+ | Co-Ed | $100
August 12-16 | Half-day (morning)

The Yamaha Sounds of Summer Drumline Camp is a rudimental drumming workshop for the beginner and advanced drummer. No experience is necessary.

Participants will be taught proper stick grip, technique, basic drum rudiments, and ensemble skills on:

Snare drum
Tenor drum
Bass drum
Cymbals

Participants will learn basic and advanced drum exercises, rhythmic grooves, and show pieces similar to a college marching band drumline you would see in a parade or on TV. The workshop will be taught by world class rudimental drumming experts and music staff of the St. Michael's College School Drumline programme. All instruments, music materials, and drumsticks will be provided. This camp also functions as a training camp for prospective and current members of the SMCS Drumline programme.
