Introducing: New Faculty and Staff for 2024-25
St. Michael’s College School (SMCS) is excited to welcome our newest faculty and staff members who have recently joined or are new to our community for the 2024-25 academic year.

New Faculty and Staff
Alexander Cassar ’99 Cassar joined our Administration in the fall of 2023 as the school’s new Chief Financial Officer. Cassar started his career in finance with Deloitte LLP, and after working there for over six years, moved to the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC), where he worked for 16 years, eventually becoming the organization’s head of finance. He has been a CPA since 2006 and has a master’s degree in accounting and an honours bachelor of arts from the University of Waterloo. Cassar has continued to be a man of faith, character, and service, as reflected in his volunteer work with Catholic charities. | |
Lindah Chikwanda Chikwanda began her role as a Staff Accountant in February 2024. She has worked in accounting for over 15 years in a variety of industries, including law firms, food services, and construction. Chikwanda is a life-long learner and holds a bachelor of commerce as well as a few diplomas, including a payroll diploma from Oxford College. | |
Marco Frattarelli Frattarelli has joined the school’s faculty on a one-year contract, working with the visual art and English departments. He graduated with an honours bachelor of arts and bachelor of education from York University and is completing his master of arts at OISE. Frattarelli has worked at the Toronto Catholic District School Board for 13 years and with Global Journeys Academy of Learning for four years, with travels to South America, Australia, and New Zealand. | |
Hawi Fulas Fulas has joined the Science and Design Technologies Department this year. She has previously worked as a guest teacher and LTO teacher at St. Michael’s. Fulas has a master of science from Addis Ababa University, a bachelor of education from Debub University, and a certificate in data analytics, big data, and predictive analytics from Toronto Metropolitan University. She has taught with the Toronto District School Board, the York Region District School Board, and several smaller independent schools in the GTA. | |
Anastassia Irina Irina joined the Student Affairs Department as the Learning Commons Coordinator in November 2023. Earlier in 2023, Irina completed her school placement at SMCS and graduated from Seneca College’s library and information technician programme. She has worked in various libraries, including the Toronto Public Library and Centennial College, and has experience working in other industries such as publishing and childcare. | |
Orod Shirvani Shirvani joined the school’s IT team as the IT Systems Administrator in January 2024. He has worked in IT for 17 years, including many roles as a systems administrator. Shirvani honed his skills by working proactively to mitigate various IT issues and responding when issues arise, often with a focus on troubleshooting, IT security and risk management, and learning and adaption. He has an associate degree in computer software programming, a diploma in computer networking and technical support, and is completing a diploma in computer system technology at Seneca College. | |
Lily Solomon Solomon joined the school’s Finance and HR team as Payroll and Accounting Specialist in February 2024. She has worked in payroll for over 15 years and has extensive experience in payroll administration, pension administration, benefits, and accounting. Solomon is a certified payroll compliance practitioner with accounting certificates from Toronto Metropolitan University and bookkeeping from George Brown College. |
Returning Faculty:
Stephanie De Santis De Santis returns to the teaching faculty as a member of the Theology Department following a maternity leave. |
Faculty in New Roles:
Samantha McDonald McDonald has joined the Guidance Department for the 2024-25 academic year as a Guidance Counsellor, while Kristy Onyeaju is on a leave of absence. | |
Tyler Hill Hill has taken on the additional role of Co-Curricular Activities Coordinator. |
