SMCSPA Set To Host Double Blue Gala in Support of Students

St. Michael’s College School Parents’ Association (SMCSPA) is getting set to host their largest fundraising initiative of the year.

Against the backdrop of the Broadview Hotel, the annual Double Blue SMCSPA Gala takes place on Friday, November 14, 2025.

“All of the money we raise at the event goes back to the boys; enriching teams and clubs’ programming,” says Krysta Davies Foss, SMCSPA President.

With SMCS home to more than 50 athletic teams and more than 60 clubs, many co-curricular activities benefit from generous Parents’ Association donations to enrich their experience through initiatives, special events, and new and improved equipment.

“Each year we get requests for funding from teachers, coaches, and student leaders, all looking for support for their various initiatives,” says Davies Foss. “We try to make sure we fund programmes that touch as many students as possible, in a wide range of activities. In previous years, we have purchased a new piano, a 3D printer, basketball nets, cooking lessons, robotics equipment, sponsored mental health initiatives, cultural clubs, snacks during exam time, and so much more. I always wish there was more to give, but thanks to the generosity of our parents, we are able to support our boys in targeted, deliberate ways.”

Last year’s sold-out gala at the Toronto Lawn Tennis Club raised more than $50,000.

“Our Parents’ Association has two objectives—to connect with parents and build a community with our families, and to raise money to enhance and support the many co-curricular events we offer at St. Mike’s. The gala is an opportunity to do both.”

This year’s gala theme is ‘City Chic’. The evening will feature a DJ, dancing, and a silent and online auction with many incredible items, including themed gift baskets.

“The Gala Committee is being led for the second year by Lindsay Cox and Patricia Carr,” says Davies Foss. “Planning is well underway, and we are so grateful to have a large volunteer committee already in place. The best way to help is to donate to the baskets we auction off at the event, bid on items (you can do this even if you don’t attend the gala), and if you aren’t able to do either of these, we still welcome financial donations!

“Ideally, every family would donate something regardless of size—making this the most successful event yet!”

The gala is open to all parents and guardians of SMCS students. Tickets are selling out fast, and parents are encouraged to purchase theirs as soon as possible.

“Planning for the gala starts at the end of the prior school year. I can’t wrap my head around how much time Lindsay, Patricia, and their wonderful team put into this event. Everything is carefully thought out—from location and dining to sound system and special extras. We want the evening to be fun and memorable, and we want to raise as much money as possible to ensure our boys have every opportunity they could hope for at St. Mike’s!”
