St. Michael’s College School updates and enhances the facilities available to students and faculty across campus on a regular and continual basis.
These improvements are designed to enhance both the teaching and learning experience.
Many of these spaces feature state-of-the-art technology, relevant resources and equipment within bright, inviting workspaces.
This engaging environment offers students the opportunity to better create, collaborate, think critically, and enhance their communication skills to become future-ready learners.

Campus Map & Facilities
Collaboration Rooms
These individual, glass-enclosed rooms reside inside the Odette Library Learning Commons, and are intended for students to work collaboratively and independently to conduct research, exchange ideas and create.
The workspaces are available to students looking to engage in group activities for projects, assignments and even brainstorming sessions.
Design and Technology Lab
The Design and Technology Lab is a two-room facility that includes both a classroom and fabrication area.
The fabrication area houses traditional machinery such as scroll saws, drill presses, and band saws as well as woodworking hand tools. The space features a digital fabrication room with five 3D printers, two laser cutters, and a full finishing room for final wood finishing and a thermo vacuum former.
All new STOP safety features, workbenches, and ventilation are also part of the newest additions to Technological Design.
Media Arts Lab
The Media Arts Lab features a cutting-edge environment for hands-on learning across many aspects of media such as photography, filmmaking, graphic design, and critical analysis.
With more than two dozen of the latest generation Mac desktops featuring a wide array of professional software programmes, plus a robust collection of camera and lighting equipment, the Media Arts Lab work space provides plenty of opportunities for students to discover, dabble in and refine their artistic skill.
Standard Classroom
Each classroom is fitted with state-of-the-art conference-style camera, microphone, and speaker system along with a large TV display.
This set-up accommodates remote or hybrid learning when required.
It also facilitates seamless outreach to invited guest experts and professionals in various fields to enhance the learning experience.
A data projector or a large, interactive touch screen display at the front of each class are also staples, enabling wireless connectivity.
Most classrooms are furnished with modular desks and tables for increased flexibility and mobility. The seating in these rooms promotes greater movement which has been shown to enhance learning and general health by increasing blood flow.
Transformer Room
The Transformer Room is located beside the Odette Library Learning Commons.
It serves as a multi-purpose room for collaborative work, presentations, and class interaction. With a capacity of up to two classes, the furniture can be easily configured into multiple arrangements.
The room is an ideal space for co-curricular clubs to meet or for multiple classes to engage in collaborative work.
Visual Design Studio
Using the design process as a model, the Visual Design Studio provides students with the facilities to design, re-design, and create within an industry-standard environment. The goal is to provide learning opportunities to challenge students to confidently use their creative skills to improve the world.
A secondary goal of this space is to integrate concepts of entrepreneurship into the curriculum.

Centre for the Arts
The state-of-the-art Centre for the Arts opened in 2010, providing an inviting setting for artistic plays, musical performances, presentations, and other large gatherings.
Located at the north-west corner of St. Clair and Bathurst, the building is among Toronto’s finest theatrical venues.
The generosity of the school’s supporters led to the development of the theatre with a 440-seat capacity, intimate interior design, finely tuned acoustics, and a fly system.

Arena
Nestled in the heart of the campus, the arena is home to several school hockey teams including the St. Michael’s Majors.
Built in 1956, the iconic building has hosted many community hockey games, minor hockey tournaments, and other events. The arena features:
- single pad
- 45,000 square feet
- 1,000 seat capacity
The arena building also houses the Mporium (school store), snack bar, and pro shop.

Enzo Montemurro Fitness Facility
The fitness facility is located on the north side of campus, in the athletic corridor, near the gymnasium. It includes:
- strength and conditioning equipment
- available for student and staff use
- Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
Eugene Melnyk Sports Field
Running diagonally along the east side of the school campus, the Eugene Melnyk Sports Field is the site of games and practice sessions year-round for many school athletic teams.

- 1,000 seat capacity stadium with artificial turf
- 30,000 square foot winterized dome

Gymnasium
The school gymnasium is located at the north-east end of the main school building, adjacent to the arena.
The space hosts a range of events from athletic games and co-curricular events to faith gatherings, as well as student and community activities. It features:
- double gymnasium featuring Paul Dignan Basketball Court
- 10,000 square feet
- 500-seat capacity with bleachers open
Play Area
The Play Area is located in between the arena and the stadium.
The enclosed space features a paved surface with outdoor basketball and hockey nets.
It is used by Health and Physical Education classes and intramural teams for ball hockey, foot hockey, and 3 on 3 basketball.
Side Field
The Side Field is a secondary grassy field, located on the east side of the school campus, adjacent to the Eugene Melnyk Sports Field.
This enclosed space offers a shot put and disc area.
It is also serves as a warm-up or practice area before, during and following athletic events.
Mporium
The Mporium is the school store, located inside the arena.
The community can find a variety of SMCS apparel and accessories such as t-shirts, hoodies, toques, bags, water bottles, and more. SMCS students can also be fitted and purchase their standard uniform items through the store.

Cafeteria
The cafeteria is located between the chapel and the gymnasium. It features a walk-out patio equipped with picnic tables and benches as well as access to the school’s courtyard.
Students are welcome to use the cafeteria during the school day for breakfast, lunch, or during spare periods for co-curricular activities or completing homework in groups. They have the option of purchasing food and beverages off of a weekly menu from the kitchen or may also bring in their own food from home. The menu is posted weekly in the ‘Cafeteria’ group on Edsby.
The cafeteria servery is open Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. and again from 9 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. for breakfast and during periods 3A and 3B for lunch.
